Week 8: Curation Spaces

1. An under-appreciated Goddess: Eir

(Image from: Pinterest)

Eir is the Norse Goddess of Healing, that not enough people know about.

2. Science VS Norse Mythology

(Image from: Pinterest)

This was an interesting pin from Pinterest that got a lot of re-pins!

And proof that I pin some Mythology that is not Norse...

3. Creative Depiction of the Greek Gods!

I thought these were cute depictions of the Greek Gods.

  1. Lauren, I just saw this pop up! I am so glad you are in the curation habit... it is something I really want to do better with the class overall next semester (only a few people are doing this option). And listen, I thought of when I saw this GORGEOUS piece at Google+ earlier this week: stained glass of Odin: did you see it? Wow!

    1. That IS BEAUTIFUL, and in seconds it was pinned to two of my Pinterest boards! (ha!)

I am loving the Curation Spaces! I actually never used Pinterest very much until I took this class! I am addicted to it now!

I've also enjoyed that the more that you pin, the more re-pins that you tend to get. So, it's been a fulfilling experience.

Additionally, I'm always surprised at the amount of Mythology-related pins there are on Pinterest!

I think I pin so much out of my love for Norse Mythology.

So, perhaps if you had it included in the Curation Spaces that they go to Pinterest and look up their favorite mythology, gods and goddesses, (or the very least SOMETHING that interested them.) Maybe they just haven't thought of that?

(Since like I said, I didn't like Pinterest until I stated searching things I enjoy like "Norse Mythology", and I found, and continue to find so many wonderful things!)

It's even helped my Storybook and Novel, because when I look up "Vampires" there are so many inspiring images! (Spoiler alert: that's going to pop up in next week's Curation Spaces!)

    2. Pinterest is SO USEFUL... I totally agree! It is great for mythology, and it is also great for India stuff, so I use it for both classes. Dangerously useful, ha ha. I love following the trail from one board to another to another. And tons of stuff for growth mindset also because lots of K-12 teachers use it.

But not very many college faculty use it; I've met some college librarians who use it, but no other professors. I feel like it is my secret research tool that nobody knows about, ha ha.

I tried doing an all-Pinterest approach in this class a few semesters ago where I got everybody to make Pinterest Boards, but it was kind of like the curation experiment this semester: a few people totally got into it, but most people did not. My guess is that it all just comes down to time, and not having enough of it.

Just imagine if we could wave a magic wand to get more time whenever we wanted it!!! Or had that magic time-turner like Hermione did!

    3. That's exactly how I feel, since not everyone is using it! I feel as if I have a secret curation tool that no one knows about, as well! (ha!)

Oh, I think many (including myself) would agree to that sentiment. If only magic were real!
